Players will need to follow a series of 64 clues hidden across the server. The first 10 to complete the hunt get a nice advantage at the start of Season 4.

Prizes

First person to finish gets first pick from the following prizes. Second person gets second pick, etc.

This item / benefit will be placed in your inventory at the very start of Season 4.

* Free Shopping Permit in Season 4
* One Shulker Box (yes, weeks before the end is opened up)
* 4 Ender Chests (you would need silk touch to move them)
* A bow with the infinity enchantment and also infinite durability. (You can later enchant it with other enchantments as you see fit)
* Diamond Chestplate with Infinite Durability (you can enchant as you see fit later)
* Gold Pick with unlimited durability (you can enchant it as you see fit)
* 32 Ancient Debris. You would need to obtain diamond gear, gold and smithing templates to make good use of it.
* 3 wither skeleton skulls. You would need to obtain soul sand and fight the wither, plus obtain obsidian to actually make a beacon, then need blocks for the beacon base.
* One enchanted Golden apple + 4 regular golden apples

Once one player has chosen a given prize from the list of 10 prized above, its gone. So the second person to finish the treasure hunt will have a list of 9 items to choose from and so forth. The 10th player to finish will not have a choice of reward, it will be the last thing left.

Others who finish after 10th, still get the fun of playing and the kudos and fame.

Rules

The competition is free for anyone to enter. Staff may play, but are not eligible to win any prizes.

Each clue is a book on a lectern and each clue will need to the next clue in the sequence. This is a linear race. As such, theres no real benefit to people working together, but if you want to work with someone else, you may of course do so. Bear in mind that they might beat you to the final prize this was designed to be an individual race, but we cant stop people working together and we dont think it really matters if people do.

You must not do anything to slow down other people. So removing a clue, hiding a clue, putting an obsidian box around a clue, summoning a wither right next to a clue. All of these sort of things are forbidden and will result in immediate disqualification. Placing any kind of false clue or misleading clue is also forbidden. Extremely antisocial behavior on the treasure hunt might even result in a ban from the server. All the usual rules for playing on this server still apply (no griefing, no PVP without consent, no stealing, etc). The short version of this rule is play nice.

Each clue will have a secret word in it. For example the first clue has a secret word of Minecraft. You need to make a note of each secret word, in order. They will form several sentences.

In order to claim victory, you must DM Iridium_Steve all 64 secret words. Obviously do NOT post any of the secret words publicly :-) Send Iridium_Steve a private DM message in Discord.

The exact timestamp of when Steve receives your DM in discord is the time you have considered to have completed the treasure hunt. So once you have the last word, dont delay ! Someone else who finishes the hunt after you but who messages Steve before you will be considered to have beaten you.

Even if you tell another staff member, it does not count. If Steve is asleep thats OK. He will examine the precise timestamp of your DM to him to determine exactly when you finished.

In the event of a dispute or problem with a clue, please first DM Iridium_Steve. Bear in mind, Steve lives in Melbourne, Australia. So is in a time zone thats GMT+11 during the Australian Summer (October -> April). If you have an urgent problem, please open a private support ticket in discord and another staff member will try to help you.

Advice

This hunt has been designed to be reasonably difficult and to take some time and effort to complete. We dont want people in one time zone to have a big advantage over other time zones. While some players who are more speedy might aim to complete this quickly, we dont expect anyone to complete it in less than a day. It might take a week or more for the first person to complete it we will see.

This competition will require extensive travel around all three dimensions. If you do not have elytra and rockets, you would be at an enormous disadvantage. If you have just joined and dont have elytra, but want to play, you can DM Iridium_Steve to discuss renting elytra to the end of the season for a very low cost.

In addition, you should make sure you are prepared for any environment. Having things like Potions, a good supply of a good food, blocks to pillar up, good tools (diamond / netherite) would all be big advantages to have. Before the competition starts, a wise player will have an ender chest full of shulker boxes of items to be able to cope with anything they might encounter exploring the game.

You may encounter hostile mobs along the way and environmental hazards. Be prepared. Make sure you are careful and have a plan in case you die. Set respawn points and have backup gear if you can. Some of the very late clues (60+) might be very dangerous indeed. The final clue is designed to be extremely challenging indeed. Im looking forward to seeing some of our best players tackle that.

Each clue will be a book on a lectern. You should probably keep a copy of each clue. You can do this by taking screenshots of your game, or if you prefer using crafting within the game to copy the book. To do this, you will need a book and quill. Thats a non stackable item, so you might instead prefer to carry around a stack of; in sacs, feathers, books. Those items can be crafted in to a book and quill as you need, even without a crafting table (its a shapeless recipe).

You may not remove the book from the lectern for more than a few seconds to copy it. So you are not allowed to take the book away with you to copy somewhere else that would potentially slow down or block another player from moving forward.

Bear in mind that copies of the clue books will not stack, so you would need 3 empty shulker boxes to keep all 64 clues with you, if you chose to do that.
To be clear you do not HAVE to make a copy of each book, or take screenshots of every clue. Its up to you. However you MUST make a note of the secret word from each clue. Only players who DM Iridium_Steve all 64 secret words, in order, can win a prize. This is to ensure that no-one stumbles across clue #63 by accident and completes the hunt without solving all the previous clues.

Many of the clues will test your knowledge of Minecraft. For example, do you know what the durability of a gold pickaxe is ? You will find resources like the minecraft wiki very valuable indeed for some clues. Indeed, if anyone can solve all the clues without needing to look up any information at all, Ill be very impressed indeed but it does not get you an extra prize, sorry :-)

I have written all the clues in English, but tried to make sure that people who speak other languages are not unfairly disadvantaged. For example, there are no word play clues relying on a knowledge of Enlgish.

Finally, its possible that I have made a mistake in the Treasure Hunt. Ive done everything I can to check that each clue has all the information you will need to solve it. Ive also received some wonderful help from some of the other staff who have playtested this and given me advice about how some of the clues should be improved. Thank you especially to; Vivi, Lucky and Travis who all did a lot of playtesting. All the staff helped in one way or another.
